Visiting Venice by walk is absolutely the best way to appreciate the city and everything it has to offer. Crossing the city walking permits you to enjoy every characteristic corner, incredible narrow street or lively painted house. The distances between the main tourist attractions are quite short and in one hour you can reach every places in the historic centre.
There are also many churches, little squares or gardens the can be discovered closing the map and walking without a direction. You will wonder to discover how many amazing views the city is able to offer.
You can also sometimes even catch an improvised concert along a street or in front of a cathedral.
If you are worried about the possibility to get lost around the complicated network of bridges and streets, don’t worry about that: it’s normal! But it’s also easy to return to the main hotspots (such as Rialto Bridge, St. Mark’s Square, Piazzale Roma or the train station), just follow the signals hanged on the houses wall (see picture below). In any case a good map in your bag can be functional.
